I met iPhone artist Linda Hollier in 2014 at the Google headquarters in Dublin at a Wisdom 2.0 event. I was living in Rome and was running ARTROM Network, the first ‘home’ gallery in Rome with a calendar of international artists, an online competition/exhibition presence, and a database of women artists. The week before going to Dublin I had been researching artists in Dubai and had created a list of names of those I thought were interesting. The list sat on my desk as I packed my bags and left for Dublin.
This trip was special for two reasons, one, it was a birthday present from my son Jackson and two, he was coming with me. The conference was set up so there were scheduled free periods after the presentations, during which the audience could relax, eat and drink, and view various exhibitions in the large entrance area.
I was comfortably seated making notes in my journal when my son came to find me. He told me he had just met an interesting artist and that I too must meet her. So he took my hand led me to the other side of the room and introduced me to this mysterious South African artist. As I heard her name something resonated. Linda Hollier? Linda Hollier? There was something familiar in that name. Then it popped into my mind that her name was written on that list of artists from Dubai that sat on my desk in Rome. Incredible!!!!
From that moment on, we were friends, lifelong friends. Linda is an extraordinary person and an artist I hold in my heart with enormous respect. It will be well worth your while to explore her art processes and the concepts she shares through her work. She, and the works she creates, inspire, stimulate, and evoke inner movement and deep contemplation. She is a courageous pioneer in her openness to explore new technologies and move beyond the ordinary. www.lightingourway.com
